CPR Class FAQs — Charlotte, NC

Straight answers about pricing, class length, certification cards, and what a mobile class with Megan actually looks like.

How much do CPR classes cost in Charlotte?+

Our pricing is simple and per learner: BLS for Healthcare Providers is $80/person; Heartsaver CPR & AED is $85/person; the CPR + First Aid Combo is $95/person; and a Blended Learning Skills Check is $65/person. Training a group? Small groups of up to 4 are $300 (+$60 per additional learner), and our Infant & Child CPR + Choking Workshop is $200 for up to 4 (+$45 per additional learner). Travel within 20 miles of Indian Land is free; 21–40 miles is $25; beyond that we provide a custom quote.

Do you come to our office or home?+

Yes — that’s the whole idea. We bring the manikins, AEDs, and all supplies to your home, office, gym, school, daycare, church, or clinic anywhere in the Charlotte metro and surrounding areas. Evenings and weekends are available, and there’s no minimum group size.

How long is CPR certification good for?+

American Heart Association course completion eCards — both BLS and Heartsaver — are valid for two years. We issue your eCard within 24–48 hours of class, and we can set up renewal reminders or annual recertification cycles for teams.

What’s the difference between BLS and Heartsaver CPR?+

BLS (Basic Life Support) is the AHA course designed for healthcare professionals and trained first responders (and healthcare students) — it covers high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, AED use, ventilations, and team-based multi-rescuer scenarios, with hands-on skills tests and a written exam (84% to pass). Heartsaver is the AHA’s course for the general public — designed for people with little or no medical training who need CPR/AED/First Aid training and a course completion card for work, regulatory requirements (OSHA), or personal preparedness. Both result in an AHA eCard valid for two years. On our price list, BLS is $80/person and Heartsaver CPR & AED is $85/person. Compare BLS certification in Charlotte and AHA vs Red Cross.

Do I need to be certified for my job in NC daycare?+

In most cases, yes. North Carolina’s child care rules (10A NCAC 09 .1102, published by the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education) require all staff who provide direct care to children to complete certification in First Aid and CPR appropriate to the ages of the children in care — and at least one CPR-trained staff member must be present whenever children are in care. Requirements can vary by facility type and role, so confirm with your center director or licensing consultant which training your center accepts before you book. See daycare CPR and First Aid training for the NC and SC licensing details.

What should I wear/bring to class?+

Wear something comfortable — you’ll be practicing compressions on manikins, usually at floor level. Bring nothing: we supply all manikins, AED trainers, and materials. Just bring yourself (and your questions).

Is online-only CPR certification valid?+

Here’s the AHA’s position: the American Heart Association does not offer an online-only route to a certification card. Every AHA course completion card requires a hands-on skills session with an AHA instructor — either in a classroom course or a blended format (online learning first, then an in-person skills session). Courses that are 100% online with no skills check don’t carry an AHA card and are widely rejected by employers and regulators. If you’ve finished the AHA’s online portion, our $65 Blended Learning Skills Check (~45 minutes) completes your certification.

My baby is choking — what do I actually do?+

We teach this step by step in our Infant & Child CPR class, because it’s the scenario parents fear most. In general: if an infant is choking and can’t cry, cough, or breathe, act immediately and call 911. The AHA’s pediatric guidance teaches a specific sequence for infant choking relief — you’ll practice it on a manikin until it’s muscle memory. Hands-on training is the only way to be ready, which is why this is a core part of our infant classes. See the infant CPR class for new parents.

Will I practice on a manikin, or is it mostly lecture?+

Mostly practice. Every learner gets meaningful hands-on skills practice on manikins — compressions, AED use, and choking relief — with coaching as you go, not just slides. We bring all the equipment to you.

I’m pregnant / have a bad knee / can’t easily get on the floor — can I still take the class?+

Almost always, yes. Just tell us when you book and we’ll adapt — many skills can be practiced from a chair, a couch, or standing, and we can adjust the setup around comfort and mobility. The coaching is calm and judgment-free; you’ll never be pushed past what’s comfortable.

What’s a blended-learning skills check?+

Blended learning splits AHA training into two parts: you complete the online coursework (such as the AHA’s HeartCode course) at your own pace, then do a separate in-person hands-on skills session with an AHA instructor to demonstrate what you learned and earn your eCard. We offer that in-person skills session for $65 per person (about 45 minutes) — it’s also a great refresher path if your card is close to expiring.

I just want to learn — no test, no card. Do you do that?+

Absolutely. We offer non-certification, hands-on CPR & AED awareness training for offices, gyms, schools, daycares, churches, and community groups — no test, no card, just real confidence. And our Infant & Child CPR + Choking Workshop (~1 hour, $200 for up to 4) is designed exactly for parents and caregivers who want skills, not paperwork.

How quickly do I get my certification card?+

Your official AHA eCard is issued within 24–48 hours of completing class — fast enough for job deadlines and onboarding paperwork.

Do you offer group or corporate training?+

Yes — it’s our specialty. Small groups of up to 4 are $300 (+$60 per additional learner); larger teams and workplaces get custom quotes (groups of 10+ qualify for custom pricing). We also set up recurring annual recertification cycles for offices, dental practices, gyms, and clinics. Tell us your group size, location, and which course you need, and Megan replies within one business day with a quote.

Will I actually learn how to use an AED?+

Yes. AED use is a core part of our Heartsaver and BLS classes — you’ll practice with an AED trainer until it feels familiar. AEDs are designed for the public: they talk you through every step and only advise a shock when one is truly needed, so you can’t accidentally shock someone who doesn’t need it.
